Holt gives the Jags a go to WR. The Jaguars have been in desperate need of a go-to wide receiver, and it was about time for a change of scenery for Torry Holt, so Jacksonville and Holt inked a three-year deal. While Holt is surely a better option than failed first-round picks Reggie Williams and Matt Jones, he is not going to be the Torry Holt of old, with bad knees slowing him down. The Jaguars really like the idea of Holt tutoring their young wide receivers, but it is unlikely that he will revive his career in Jack Del Rio’s run-heavy offense. Coming off a season where he was the 39th-ranked wide receiver in most fantasy leagues, and he only had a catch rate of 53%, Holt should not be considered much more than a WR4. David Garrard is better off with an aging Holt than some of the other options the Jaguars have been putting out there. This acquisition will help Garrard, who will benefit from having a great route runner on the field, bounce back from his unimpressive 2008, but Garrard should still only be considered a solid backup.
