One of our best inventions in terms of fantasy football is our strength of schedule feature. While all sites produce a strength of schedule ranking it is simply based on wins and losses and doesn't offer a great deal of information or have much value for fantasy footballers. Our strength of schedule which again was invented here by myself, is one of the best weapons you can use on a weekly basis and could be the difference in why you draft one WR over another in the 7th round of your draft. Lets look at some examples this time focusing in on the NFC East.
Dallas Cowboys W/L In terms of W/L the Cowboys have a very difficult schedule as the teams they will play this year finished around .543 last year, but lets look at the more important details. RYD SOS The Cowboys have a fairly tough schedule against the run ranking 4th overall, Barber and Jones will have tough matchups against the Packers, Vikings and Eagles twice. PYD SOS The pass schedule opens up nicely for Romo as the boys face the 25h ranked pass schedule. The Redskins in week 1 should be tough, but thereafter Romo has a fairly easy pass schedule until week 9 when he faces the Packers.
New York Giants W/L In terms of W/L the Giants have a very tough schedule as the teams they will play this year finished around .527 last year. RYD SOS Based on the schedule the Giants run game could struggle some as both Jacobs and Bradshaw will face tough matchups against the Cowboys and Eagles twice and the Packers and Vikings. PYD SOS The pass schedule here should be good for Eli and Co. as they face the 24th ranked schedule against the pass. This WR core is loaded 3-4 deep so Eli should be in for a solid year.
Philadelphia Eagles W/L In terms of W/L the Eagles will face a very tough schedule as their opponents finished with a .520 W/L last year. RYD SOS McCoy looks like a nice talent, but the Eagles will face the leagues toughest schedule against the run in 2010. PYD SOS Kevin Kolb will have some chances early, after a tough week 1 matchup with the Packers the Eagles have a fairly easy schedule against the pass. Overally they will face the 29th ranked pass schedule in 2010.
Washington Redskins W/L In terms of W/L the Redskins will face a fairly tough schedule as their opponents finished with a W/L of .523. RYD SOS Much like the rest of the division, the Redskins will face a fairly difficult schedule against the run this year. RBBC in Washington so a definite fantasy nightmare is brewing here. PYD SOS McNabb will be going to the air often this year and he should as the Redskins face the leagues 28th ranked schedule against the pass.
Strength of Schedule is a regular feature available in Dr. Stats Fantasy Football Insider. Updated weekly during the season, it is a key tool in evaluating future player value and upcoming matchups. View a demo here |
